3 articles from friday's lesson

The Guardian: Facebook Empathy Button

I looked at Leila's article and she looked at Facebook empathy button, which is about Facebook introducing a new button 'empathy' as an alternative button to the 'like' button. Her opinions on it were that people need to be more real wit their emotions and it helps the users to give actual opinions rather than fake ones. In my opinion i agree as peopel do need to start showing their real emotions rather than their fake ones.

Abused dog sings 'I Will Survive' in latest Blue Cross animal charity advert

I looked at Rabia's article which explored Blue Cross new approach of promoting re-homing and preventing dog abuse. It showed that the dogs are not being vividly hurt or abused, the moral and sorry shined through. Her opinion on it was that she really liked the advert as 'having not read the article, i watched the advert myself one day during the x-factor break and that the prime time to target families and melt the children's hearts', which i agree with as it allows millions of children and animal lovers to take some action.

Emojis and quizzes led the way at Social Media Week 2015
James Whatley on stage at Social Media Week 2015

I looked at Ashmita's article which spoke about how social media week has changed a lot over the past four or five years. The industry has continued to evolve as does the output of participants. It has started from agencies, platforms and brands creating mini pop-up events  which has now developed into a three day summit. Her opinion on the article was that she believes emoji's have been very popular as a lot of people use it on their smart phones etc to show their emotions, which i agree with.
